As the Junior Creative Director for River City Fashion, I led the Señorita Shoot through creative ideation, planning, and model scouting. This shoot celebrates Hispanic Heritage month and centers on growing into womanhood as a Latina, celebrating Latino culture during a difficult political climate. An article will be coming out soon, alongside the shoot that dives into the model's experiences growing into womanhood. Through this shoot, I went outside of my comfort zone and decided to model as well to expand the message of cultural resistance and celebration.
"Right now, as a Latina, it’s so important to be loud and proud of our diverse cultures. Being Latino right now, it can feel hopeless...like you can’t do anything in the current political climate. Mass deportations and profiling on the basis of “looking Latino." What we can do is take a stand and resist through fashion and visibility. I am proud to be Latina with a rich culture and history, and I will not let any stereotypes or propaganda diminish that."
